HADAS GALLERY CURATOR'S REVIEW ON
EXTENDED LIVES by Soojin ParkMAY 2-6, 2011
Pratt Institute
Steuben South Gallery
“Extended Lives” is an installation/ mixed media exhibition of artwork by Soojin Park. What draws me into Soojin Park’s artwork is her delicate concern for touch. Her artwork focuses on a relationship between her watercolor paintings of tree forms and the physical objects themselves. Park’s process begins with the collection of fallen twigs and branches, which she glues to a mounted piece of watercolor paper. She then continues the physical form of the tree into her painting. Subversively simple in appearance, her work requires a great attention to technique.
Her mimicking of twigs and leaves are formed by the pooling and evaporation of water. This leaves a hard edge, while retaining an inner wash, similar to...Read more

The academic framework allows them the ability to focus their complete attention on artmaking- a rare opportunity in the professional world.
The artwork, which ranges in medium and content, provide insight into artistic influences and academic areas that are significant to the next generation of professionals. Most importantly, group exhibitions featuring emerging artwork reminds us of the ever changing range of subjects, concepts, and techniques that epitomize the possibilities of making art in the 21st century.

CHECK OUT THE JEWISH FORWARD ART REVIEW ON JON AXELROD

ORDER, CHAOS & PSYCHEDELIC SNAILS
By Katie Rolnick It would be fair to call Jon Axelrod’s paintings synesthetic. They are, after all, visual representations of sound. However, these aren’t the idiosyncratic cross-sense connections of an unfettered mind. His is a willful synesthesia. Axelrod uses science and math to reveal relationships between color, shape and sound. He finds kinship, for example, in the frequency of high-pitched tones and the high-frequency wavelengths of blues and violets...Read more

IMAGINARY OSCILLATIONS
Posted on January 31 2011 by in Painting

Hadas Gallery is proud to present the recent work of painter Jon Axelrod.
At first glance, Axelrod's paintings depict seemingly organic abstract forms that drift in large color-fields. The colors are vibrant harmonies that transition seamlessly throughout the painting. The paintings take on an awareness of an environment, whether it be an underwater seascape or movement through the sky. They are beautiful, and for many artists, this may be reason enough to enjoy their craft- but not for...Continue

DEPTHBALANCESURFACE

Hadas Gallery is proud to present the recent work of photographer Richard W. Golden.
Golden’s photography reveals the beauty of natural subjects that often go unnoticed by the casual viewer. His sense of framing and composition create an awareness of textures and a humorous play with abstraction.
“Depth / Balance / Surface” moves the viewer’s attention to different areas of the image. In some photographs, Golden leads the viewer’s eye to the deepest background. Others generate natural shifts between the foreground and background, creating a balance of areas. Several photographs retain the viewer’s focus on the surface of the...Continue
